Anaerobic training produces far-reaching adaptations that extend well beyond increases in muscular strength. This course examines how high-intensity, intermittent training—including resistance exercise, plyometrics, speed, agility, and interval training—affects the neuromuscular, muscular, connective-tissue, endocrine, cardiovascular, and respiratory systems.
Participants will explore the physiological mechanisms responsible for improvements in strength, power, muscular endurance, body composition, flexibility, and motor performance. The course also addresses the effects of training variables on bone and connective tissue, the compatibility of aerobic and anaerobic training, and the recognition of overtraining and detraining.
