Description

Run Better, Run More:  Improving Running Mechanics and Treatment of Running Injuries
Instructor:  Dr. Donald DeFabio
(Speaker sponsored by NCMIC)
6 hrs. CTA CE
CTA session hrs. 8am-3pm ET (Saturday)

Improved running mechanics enable the runner to avoid injuries, train  more effectively and improve performance.  This course will review running kinematics, address common mechanical faults found in the running population as well as treatment of common running injuries.  Dynamic and static assessment for the runner will be taught to allow a personalized corrective exercise program to be created for athlete patients.  In addition, the relationship between common biomechanical imbalances and running injuries will be presented.  The treatment principles presented will include low tech exercise, sports nutrition, recovery techniques, taping, shoe selection and CMT.  Participants will learn the seven component parts of a Running Mechanics Boot Camp as a community outreach tool.  More than just treating the injury, these principles will enable participants to correct the cause of running injuries, enabling their athletes to Run Better so they can Run More

This will be a DC/CTA shared session.
